Level 3, EXPERT
It will soon be published in English.
This new publication by Dr. Jiménez Díaz, level 3 EXPERT corresponds to those sonographers whose objective is to reach that level of “mastery” to obtain difficult and accurate diagnoses.
It is known the long learning curve that implies the knowledge of this method of image. However, with such didactic works, learning is sweetened, the inexperienced sonographer arriving to progress in the management of the probe and in the knowledge of soft tissue injuries, quickly.
In all cases the texts are updated and very systematized and are prepared with almost 2000 images of exceptional quality.
We study the examination of each of the main joints, with special attention to technique and ultrasound anatomy. The following are the most frequent lesions, ordered by structures, as in the shoulder joint, and in other cases by tissues, Assessing all pathologies of soft structures that make up the locomotor system and even bone lesions. Having three “sizes” of knowledge is something absolutely practical, original and makes this book of great interest. (J. A. Bouffard MD)
Level 2, ADVANCED
It is known the long learning curve that implies the knowledge of this method of image. However, with such didactic works, such as the one offered by Dr. Jiménez Díaz, this learning is sweetened, and the inexperienced sonographer arrives to progress in the management of the probe and in the knowledge of soft tissue injuries quickly.
The text is strictly tidy and updated, it is also adorned with more than a thousand images of exceptional quality. It includes two first chapters on the general aspects of the technique and on the exploration of basic tissue injuries, and the ultrasound of each of the major joints is systematically described in six chapters.
Already within them, the examination of each of the compartments that compose the joint is studied, with special attention to the examination technique and the ultrasound anatomy. The most frequent lesions, usually ordered by structures, as in the shoulder joint, and in other cases by tissues, are all described, assessing all the pathology of the soft structures that make up the locomotor apparatus and even citing bone lesions.
Given the rise of therapeutic ultrasound, this text finally includes a chapter of interventional technique to develop eco-guided treatments and as a novelty, a chapter of three-dimensional ultrasound applied to the diagnosis of the locomotor system. Undoubtedly this technological application facilitates the diagnosis of some lesions compared to ultrasound in two-dimensional mode.
In conclusion, the experience in sonographic technique of the locomotor system accumulated over the years by Dr. Jiménez Díaz, together with his long experience in the treatment of soft tissue injuries in the field of sport, has resulted in this text Attractive and comfortable reading, which facilitates the learning of this diagnostic technique. I hope that with an upcoming edition of the English text, this book will exceed the borders of Spanish-speaking countries.
Congratulations on this great work.
Level 1, INITIATION
Level 1, INITIATION to Musculoskeletal Ultrasound is a new challenge for the author to make this technique known. Beginning in the most elementary description, from the concepts of ultrasound to visualization of normal tissues, as well as equipment management and image adjustment, types of ultrasound cuts and description of the different tissues (muscle, tendon, ligament, Peripheral nerve, bone, …)
It addresses the basic principles of techniques of echo-guided intervention and the advantages, disadvantages and common errors of ultrasound versus other imaging techniques.
Level 1, INITIATION, will be the first step in the training of new sonographers.
